Preserving Quality Urological Care
The Council for Urological Interests is a 501c(6) non-profit devoted to bringing awareness to issues facing urologists and lithotripsy providers, and protecting their ability to deliver the highest quality of care to patients. CUI’s Certification Program recognizes the experience and skills of the Lithotripsy Professionals that are so critical to helping doctors get the best outcomes for their patients. Our Medical Advisory Board helps CUI maintain its focus on helping practitioners obtain the bests results for their stone patients.
Leadership
The Council for Urological Interests Board of Directors is comprised of accomplished leaders of shock wave lithotripsy from across the U.S. In 2007 Dr. Joseph Jenkins founded CUI and asked the leaders of the most prominent industry players to join the board. Despite their competition in the market place, the CEOs of HealthTronics, AKSM, NextMed, US Lithotripsy, United Medical Systems, The Stone Center of NJ, Carolina Stone Center, Baybridge, and Piedmont Stone came together to represent the doctors and stone patients they served. Today all but one of the original board entities remain represented by its leaders.
Advocacy
CUI was founded on the principle that government bureaucrats would benefit from access to the backstory of how and why the lithotripsy provider model emerged as the efficient, cost-cutting quality-driven model that it did.
Certification
CUI’s Lithotripsy Professional Certification examination is offered to any lithotripsy professional who wishes to be recognized as a Certified Lithotripsy Professional. This three year certification has become an industry standard of excellence for those delivering Lithotripsy services.
